Counter Surveillance
Technical Surveillance Countermeasures (TSCM), a practice that is also known as counter surveillance or bug sweeping is the inspection both electronically and physically of buildings and vehicles for eavesdropping devices.
The process includes a thorough electronic sweep procedure together with a detailed physical examination of all aspects of the target area. This is conducted by counter surveillance professionals using specialised equipment to unearth listening, recording and tracking devices in business premises or vehicles.
Protecting your company from covert surveillance threats makes economic sense and with competition in the business sector becoming evermore fierce, now it really is important to ensure the integrity of confidential business information. Mission Investigations regularly conducts this type of service for a portfolio of clients who require bug sweeping services on a frequent basis. We use state-of-the-art counter surveillance equipment and methods thoroughly checking for any devices that may pose a security risk or breach.
We understand that this type of service cannot generally be conducted during normal office hours because as a general rule the procedure will need to be undertaken completely discreetly without notifying most of the staff. As such, this means evenings or weekends where a complete inspection can be completed with disturbances. We have on many occasions been called upon to conduct a bug sweep in the early hours of the morning, which is generally not an issue with some advanced notice.
If your business seems to be leaking information, then this may be a sign that it is under surveillance. If this is the case then you should act now:
- If at all possible cease all sensitive communications
- Move out of the premises or target area before communicating with anyone
- Be very careful to whom you entrust your suspicions
- Call Mission Investigations from a phone that you would not normally use, which maybe a payphone if necessary
- Costs are largely dependent upon the target area that requires inspection, plus any time and costs incurred traveling to and from the location from our offices. It should be noted that although we realise that most procedures will be required out of office hours, we will still require some advanced notice.
