Performance & Absenteeism
For the corporate sector there has never been a more poignant time to review employee performance and absenteeism.
Both of these factors can not only cause difficulties in relation to the day to day running of a company, but more importantly can result in poor business productivity and profits. For small or even medium businesses the effect of poor performance of a few employees can impinge on the morale of the whole team.
Published figures clearly shows that employee absenteeism has seriously increased over the last decade. Although statistics showed a 20 year low at the turn of the Millennium, employee absenteeism figures have climbed at a very steep rate. certainly between 2005 and 2006, working days lost due to sickness absence almost doubled from 78 million to 164 million and in 2007 this figure had climbed even higher to 172 million. Although recent figures have yet to be published, it is anticipated that the statistics will show an unwelcome rise yet again.
There maybe certain unavoidable factors that may adversely affect the performance of an employee in the short term, but workers who are permanently low performers for no valued reason can cause an unwanted low productivity culture throughout the workforce. Most businesses accept that there will be a certain amount of working days lost annually through general sickness and some employees will genuinely be absent for extended periods due to circumstances beyond their control. However, some workers take advantage by being absent from work for extended periods on a regular basis or sometimes for months at a time for no apparent valid reason.
Here at Mission Investigations we are regularly called upon to investigate extreme poor employee performance and extended absenteeism. Usually an investigation request will be as a result of intelligence gathered by management staff or information received from another worker within the same company. Based on the intelligence received we can formulate a investigation plan with a view to closely, but discreetly monitoring a poor performing employee or a worker who is on long-term sickness leave. Using knowledge, experience and expertise Mission Investigations will endeavour to gather irrefutable evidence with a view to providing the client with valuable information to bring matters to a satisfactory conclusion.
If your company is suffering as a result of unacceptable poor performance or unreasonable extended periods of absence by some employees, then please feel free to contact us and discuss your case in complete confidence.
